nais healthWhat are the disconvenients of acrylic nails?
they look horrible
thats inconvenient enoughWhat are the disconvenients of acrylic nails?
The down-side of acrylic nails is that you have to have them filled regularly or else they look terrible. If yiu get white tips you can fill both the clear and the white without problem but if you wear pearl tips (they look more natural and are prettier) you really have to have them removed and redone every 4 - 6 weeks (depending on how fast your nails grow). The biggest down-side of all is that they grind your natural nails down to make them thinner so that your acrylics won't look lumpy. If you decide that you don't want to replace your acrylics and just want your natural nails, your nails will be as thin as a shrimp's shell for a few months as they grow out.
Basically, if you decide to get acrylics you may be a slave to them for the rest of your life (I know I am - I have had them for over a year now)
As far as health is concerned: find yourself a clean, reputable salon that you trust. If you are still worried, many salons allow you to purchase a box with your own ';tools'; so that you don't have to share. My salon also sterilizes all the tools .
Addenudum: If you get a good nail technician, you CAN scratch. I know what the poster below says about it feeling like smooth glass, but my current nail tech manages to make my acrylics look and feel completely natural to the point that they feel like real nails when I scratch.
The down side to acryllic nails is that you have to have them refilled so often, but my main gripe was that I couldn't scratch an itch. It feels like rubbing smooth glass over your skin, which is good so you don't hurt yourself or others, but bad when you have an itch!
i've had them and my nails were fine
Apart from getting used to them for the first couple of days the only inconveniences are that you have to get a refull done every 2-3 weeks - I have had acrylics for about 15 years now I had them off for a short time but I now dont like the feeling of natural nails its like they feel too thin Im used to mine but when I was into horse riding they were a pain as I would break them all the time so I suppose it also depends on your hobbies etc as to whether they are going to get in the way or not.
1.it cost alot and u need refills
2. it gets your natural nail weaker and as soft as paper..trust me ive done it.. =(
3. if it breaks...it really really hurts cuz it pulls on your real natural nail
4. your real nails will look horrible when u take the acrilics off..
so...my advice is.. DONT DO IT!
could get fungus, make your real nails very thin , if the proper products are not used when your hands are in water or you work wth your hands the nails can pop off, every 2 to 3 weeks have to get fills
Acrylic nails, in most cases, are the strongest semi-permanent nail extensions available. As with all nail extensions, with proper application and proper maintenance there are virtually no negatives to wearing acrylics.
The fungus people get is not caused by wearing acrylic nails, but from improper maintenance Occasionally, when lifting occurs and the nail is neglected, moisture gets trapped in between the acrylic and the nail bed, creating ';water moles'; (green or tan in color). This is often mistakenly called ';fungus';. Water moles are not a disease or a serious condition if recognized and treated properly. The color stain can usually be buffed away, disinfected and will eventually grow out along with your nails. If left untreated, this can potentially turn into a more serious infection. Water moles should not occur if enhancements are done properly with regular maintenance.
the ist is the fact that i have to refill evey 2-3 weeks and that it makes my natural nails become thin as a result of dissolving it the acrylic.
