I have been trying to get acrylic nails off by soaking them in acetone, I've been doing?

it for two days now and still can't get it all off. My nails look hideous. I really don't want to pay someone to do it, so I am wondering if there is any other way to remove them. I will keep soaking if necessary. Any advise it great.

ThanksI have been trying to get acrylic nails off by soaking them in acetone, I've been doing?
Keep your nails immersed in the acetone....once you lift them out, the nails re-harden within a few seconds. .... use an orange wood stick while your nails are in the acetone to gently scrape off what has softened.......DO NOT chip them off, they are attached to your nail plate and when you chip them off, you take about 3 layers of your natural nail with it......

You can get a hard file and file the top of them thinnre before you soak them.I have been trying to get acrylic nails off by soaking them in acetone, I've been doing?
you can soak them and then chip away at it with a nail clipper...the acetonr softens the acrylic making it easier to remove. as soon as u soak it, while tes soft .. start taking pieces off with the clipper. woork fast.. once it drys repeat process.. it should take an hour.. try to sit down in front of a good movie...
you have to soak and rub it off soak and rub it off ; a million and one times if your doing it yourself , or you could take something and get under the acrylic and try to pop them off. best advise would be to pay to get them off because they have dremmels they use to wear away at the acrylic; no pain, and it's fast :]

Is an aquaone 850 glass or acrylic?

This is easy to tell. Look at the corners. If they are rounded and melted together they are plastic (acrylic). If they have a true corner that is siliconed together they are glass. Is an aquaone 850 glass or acrylic?
    no

How should i re-apply my acrylic nail?

its only been a few days since i got them

and two have fallen off, the place i got them done wasnt very good i guess:/

so the whole acrylic nail fell off and im wondering wht i should use to put it back on, krazy glue? haha.. i dont knowHow should i re-apply my acrylic nail?
First thing, soak those 2 fingertips in plain vinegar for about 5 minutes, then do not rinse, just let them get good and dry. Make sure they are DRY, and then you you can use a tiny drop of krazy glue and glue them back in place. It's better to go get some nail glue, but krazy glue will work. They are both cyanoacrylic glues.

Be sure not to skip the vinegar (it keeps you from getting green fungus under there)

And be extra sure to let the nail be absolutely dry when you glue. How should i re-apply my acrylic nail?
Stop wearing that garbage. But in the meantime go back and have them fix it if it's been two days. They will know that you just got them done based on how the other nails look. In the event you know the name of your stylist call her and warn her you're coming in for the wack nails to be fixed.

Oh yeah, never go back to them
just go back and say that you havent done anything physical and that the nails werent put on well....nail places usually give you your cash back or fix them
You can go to a store like Happy Harry's or Walgreens and get gllue just for them . It would be found by the nail polish

What would be a finish for acrylic?

Acrylic nails and infections? my nail {or under my nail} looks light green l?

My acrylic nail came off 5 days ago and my nail was discolored. It has not gotten worse and has no pain. I have heard some times this may happen and will grow out. Has anyone had this happen before? Should i be worried?Acrylic nails and infections? my nail {or under my nail} looks light green l?
when your nails are done with acrylic bacteria can get underneath from not cleaning the nails properly or for the salon not sterilizing their tools properly..even if it has not gotten worse or has any pain it is still a kind of infection from the use of unsterile tools or unproper handwashing. go to your doctor so they can give you some antibiotics for the infection. My cousin used to have this happen all the time and it was from the salon not sterilizing or cleaning their equipment..this happens often .but she ended up losing her real fingernails ..get medical attention asap it may seem like nothing but it could turn out worse than what it seems

  • I just took of my acrylic nails and need advice??

Any advice on how to smooth out natural nails and jump start their growth? My nails have always been pretty thin (hence the acrylics) but I'd love to spare the expense and grow my own! Thanks.I just took of my acrylic nails and need advice??
my mom used to work for some nail place and she did mine and i took em off and they are really rough . and wut i did was i filed it to make it smoother and loook smoother and theres this kind of file where it has 2 sides where you can make the rough spots on ur nails go away then buff it out to make it shinier :D but it also takes a little time to go back to normal. and i also noticed that ur nails grow alot faster in water? lol hope this helped :DI just took of my acrylic nails and need advice??
Keep your cuticles trimmed back and use Burts Bee's lemon cuticle cream. I have very thin nails and I found this keeps them from drying and cracking...

Im getting acrylic nails done tomorrow?

i want to know when i take them off will my nails be all horrible and thin. i only havin them on until they need infills.

    please help?

xIm getting acrylic nails done tomorrow?
If Acrylic nails are applied and removed correctly, then there should be no lasting damage. The Tech will lighlt take off the surace shine with a block before applying the nails but no nail tech should ever file on top of your natural nails (only to etch the surface) Make sure that the place you are going to does not use a drill, they cause alot of damage doing that. Have creative put on if the do that as this system uses an acid free primer, and never ever pick your nails off. Soak them in acetone for about an hour, then oil them, buff them, apply somje nail strengthener and the next day they will be good as new.

Hope this helps xIm getting acrylic nails done tomorrow?
I got them done recently and OMG what a mess after they came off. My skin underneath the nails was bruised the nails were very thin and brittle. I would never get it done again.
yes, acrylic nails are terrible. Bio gel is a better bet, but still not great for your natural nails in the long run. get good, regular manicures, and your natural nails will bet healthier, longer, and look beautiful for years to come.
any false nail will damage your nail underneath.. Grow them naturally.
i have been getting my nails done since i was 15 I'm now 20 . No it doesn't make your nails thin. BUT don't take them off yourself get it done. In saying that find the right nail place for you . Took me years to find the perfect one for me !

    Gd luck
I got mine done on Saturday lol, i've had them done before that, anyway your nails do grow underneath yh there thin but i don't care because i don't really notice much x
    visit the following url
They might be thinner it depends on the method used to put them on, but remember the whole time you are wearing them, your real nails underneath will not have any oxygen supplies. You can uy nail hardner from most chemists that you can use when you take them off.
Ask the nail technician to file lightly or they will be super thin.

    Why are acrylic tapers bad?

I just went from a 6g to a 4g last night (Nov. 6). I used acrylic tapers and have heard they are bad. I just bought some steel plugs and they should be here Tuesday, in 4 days. I was wondering if it will be ok to leave the plastic in until then. I don't have any other 4g jewelery yet. I've heard bad things about acrylic and just wanted to make sure it's ok for a short period of time. Why are acrylic tapers bad?
Acrylic cannot be sterilized. And no, it is not a smart idea to leave the tapers in for more than a few hours (they're not meant to be worn as jewelry, anyways). A short period of time (as in hours) is fine, days is not.

What gets acrylic paint out of school shirts?

acrylic paint-remover ( for clothes )What gets acrylic paint out of school shirts?
You can't get acrylic paint out. Sorry. It's got a sort of plastic base to it, and it like grasps onto clothes if you get acrylic paint on there. There isn't any way to get it out. It is there permanently.

It is best just to wear a smock over your clothes- an old T-shirt will do. Since you can't get the paint out, might as well use them as a smock to protect future clothing. What gets acrylic paint out of school shirts?

What's the primer for when doing acrylic nails?

  • What is the difference between a full set and a fill-in.. with acrylic nails?

Full set: You're getting them put on... basically for the first time.

Fill-In: You're fixing the set that is already on (filling in the gap between where your nail has grown and the cuticle)

:)What is the difference between a full set and a fill-in.. with acrylic nails?
A full set is where you get the nails in the first place. A fill-in is when you've got the nails but they've grown out a bit and the bit near the bottom needs to be filled so they don't look quite so much like fake nails.

Will acrylic nails get ruined bring swimming at the beach and pools??

Getting my toes and nails done for a big event help!!

Will my nails look bad if I swim with them at the beach??Will acrylic nails get ruined bring swimming at the beach and pools??
No They'll be fine. Will acrylic nails get ruined bring swimming at the beach and pools??
yes if the nail salon you went to has cheapy products

i got my nails done and i went to da beach like 3 days after and they got yellow and loooked uglyy
No of course not. Acrylic, solar, or fiberglass nails are made for all-purpose events. What I mean is, the only way you'll ruin them is if you are swimming in a tub full of acetone. That is what nail techs use to soak off you nails. So, go and have fun......
Your nails wont look ';bad'; if you swim with them at the beach. It's kinda like taking a shower or a bath. just try not to keep them in the water too long because sometimes acrylic nails tend to lift near the top, which can cause fungus to grow underneath them. the best way to prevent your nails from getting ruined in the water is to dry them with a towel (completely) after they've been in the water :)
They wont appear bad, but when you eventually take them off, they will be yellow-ish in color and soft. Then its not to attractive. So if you can try to avoid water as much as possible, or put your hands in clear gloves, they kind chefs use when handeling raw meat, there just clear, you can buy them at the super market.
i do it all the time. I get my man/ped bi-weekly and i surf. they look the same....

Acrylic painting of a black car..background?

i'm planning on painting a black car... this is going to be a Xmas gift. The car will contain a lot of grays due to the lighting and shine. What colour would be nice as a background without looking amateur? I could do the insignia on a solid colour background or a colour fading to another colour. Any suggestions? Or is the black car on a white background with the shadow at the bottom the most effective?

Thank you!! :)Acrylic painting of a black car..background?
Why not lemon yellow! More festive and would make your car stand out.Acrylic painting of a black car..background?
I would leave it white...more dramatic and will fit in with any colour scheme in any room...Good Luck!
    Earth colors would be perfect!

  • I bought a cheap acrylic bowfront tank kit with an intake whisper filter. does it have to produce bubbies?????

the instructions say to fill the tank to the colored rim, but when its that full, the ';waterfall'; from the filter doesn't produce any bubbles in the tank. My questions is, can the filter produce enough oxygen for the fish to survive?I bought a cheap acrylic bowfront tank kit with an intake whisper filter. does it have to produce bubbies?????
Love to know where that came from!

The tank instructions are somewhat correct. Where the colored rim is on the tank should be around 1/2 - 3/4 inches from the filter. The filter should POUR water into your tank. Dissolved oxygen which your fish use to breath, As long as your filter is pouring or RIPPLING across the surface, bubbles are not really a by product of this action. As long as you can see movement from the filter, it is fine as far as Dissolved Oxygen into the tank for your fish. No problem.

    EDIT:

Dissolved oxygen can only enter water by movement of water against air. i.e. filters, powerheads, waterfalls, fountains waves etc. Bubbles rising thru the water has no contact with air. The few small pops at the surface of the water does nothing to add DO2 to the water. Bubble wands are for decoration only and are not needed in a tank. The oxygen is not absorbed by the water. It simply floats to the surface and that is it.I bought a cheap acrylic bowfront tank kit with an intake whisper filter. does it have to produce bubbies?????
The oxygen is located on the surface of the water. The larger the ';footprint'; of the tank, the more oxygen transfers. The filter isn't really to add oxygen to the tank. Bubbles don't actually add much oxygen either. When you think of it, the oxygen is encapsulated in the bubble...which rises to the surface and pops, expelling oxygen back into the air..laugh.

More effective is the water agitators, as they create rifts in the surface, thereby creating more per inch surface area.
Yes. There is a natural exchange of gasses from water to air and air to water. Also, the filter does not produce oxygen.
I always add bubbles for more oxygen, and my fish love it, they're never lethargic.
The instructions are correct... However you should know most of the oxygen in your tank does not come from the waterfall produced by your filter. If the water is circulating in tank that is enough to produce enough oxygen for your fish to survive.. Don't worry about it. However.. if you have a larger fish like a cichlid.. you might want to add a bubble maker.

Whats the differences between acrylic paint, oil paint, water color and poster color?

thoroughly, please.Whats the differences between acrylic paint, oil paint, water color and poster color?
Oil paints use oil as a binder, linseed oil, poppy oil, and a whole lot of other oils and resins developed over centuries. Good technical training is advised for working in oils.

Acrylic paints use plastic (acrylic) as a binder and mimic, very badly, the look of oil paints.

Water color uses gum arabic as its binder, and is used mainly in transparent washes. It is regarded as a ';difficult'; medium because it cannot be retouched without destroying its freshness. If water color is made opaque by adding chinese white or gouache, it is called ';body color';. Turner used this technique a lot.

';Poster color'; includes a lot of varieties, but essentially it is water-based pigment, also bound with gum, and sold in powder form, or in bottles (Plaka) or in tubes, when they are called gouache. It is a magnificent and underrated medium used by many of the old masters, and beautiful when mixed with pastel drawing as Degas sometimes did.

There is also tempera (egg based used in the early Renaissance), and encaustic (wax based used by ancient Egyptians), and fresco (poster color painted into wet plaster, as in Michelangelo' Sistine Chapel work ).Whats the differences between acrylic paint, oil paint, water color and poster color?
    They have different characturistics.

Like Rod said,..... the guy 'above' my answer, explains.
The difference is the binder, that is the medium that holds the pigment together.

Oil paints use linseed oil and dries very slowly. Used in thin layers it allows underpainting to show through.

Acrylic paints use a water soluable acrylic that dries non-soluable and very hard quickly. It also tends to be quite opaque even in thin layers.

Water color uses gum arabic and remains soluable to some degree after drying. Usually painted on very thin layers with the board or paper becoming part of the image.

Poster color uses a cheap medium and is for commercial application, not fine art.

  • I have made a kind of bath using acrylic plastic but I am having leakage problems....?

...I first used acrylic glue ('Easyfix' which is applied by capillary action)..then backed that up with Aryldite. That leaked a bit so I used silicon sealant but it still leaks. Any advice? (Bath is c. 500mm c 300mm x 300mm deep and clear acrylic walls are 6mm thick. I used aluminium angled bar to strengthen it.I have made a kind of bath using acrylic plastic but I am having leakage problems....?
is it cracked or leakeing from the trap?

silicon is better as its flexible.clean off what youve done, very lightly sand an area 3 times bigger than you need, wipe with a damp flannel, then liberaly spread the silicone, really thick, useing your fingers.then leave to dry.if the bath is secure that should do the trick

Can u use acrylic to paint your shoes?

yes, but I think it will crackCan u use acrylic to paint your shoes?
Yes, you can.Can u use acrylic to paint your shoes?
    agrees with previous posters, except:

If you wear DocMartens or other oil-tanned leather shoes. (you will know if they are oil-tanned if they scratch and scuff really easily, but polishing them only requires some mink oil)

becasuse not only will that ruin the breathability of the shoes, but the oil in the leather will keep pushing to the surface and the paint will discolor while wet and flake and peel once dry.

If they are fabric, PVC (man-made) or water-tanned leather-go right ahead.
Depends on the material of the shoes. Acrylic work great on canvas shoes. You will need to use a fabric medium to mix into the acrylic paint.

    Should i get acrylic nails?

I kno it will damage your nails and all but i hate when peoples nails look like crap and mine recently have been breaking and i have to cut them real short. What i your opnion...do you like the way they look.Should i get acrylic nails?
Damage from acrylic comes from two sorces: (1) You being cheap or lazy and prying them off instead of having them properly removed and (2) using a nailtech that is a moron (ie going to a cheap chop shop - just find a good one in a hair and nail salon, not a quick shop). Never allow drilling on your natural nail. Drilling is for the acrylic only.

Acrylic and/or gels can be applied and removed safely and with minimal damage to your natural nails by a qualified nail technician. In trade off, you will have to get fills every 2 or 3 weeks to maintain them. Also you should keep an eye on them and call your tech if you see any lifting or problems, or if you experience any discomfort.Should i get acrylic nails?
I like the way they look but, acrylic nails do tear up your natural nails. Your nails will appear to be peeling for awhile. If you think your nails look like crap just use clear polish on them for now and then let them grow. The clear will give them shine and give them strength..I tore my nails up quite a few times with acrylic and now,am trying to convince my daughter that they will tear hers up too!!!

    Good luck!!
I love acryllic nails, but I will say that no matter how bad your nails look right now, they will look worse after you take off acryllic nails. Just get your manicured and treat them so that they can grow. Everytime I get acryllics I regret it after I take them off because my nails look brittle and chipped all the time and then those damn dents that the acryllics leave behind take forever to grow out. Choice is yours, but I wouldn't recommend it.
once you`ll wear them.. you can`t give up. if you`re affraid your nails look crappy.. just w8 to see them after you put acrylic nails
It is up to you, but I had mine done and they LOOKED great for awhile but they actually hurt my fingers and God forbid they get caught on anything , not to mention the the cost of the fills. I even know some people who ended up with really bad nail infections. If you want them to look better spend the money on a really good manicure. They will look great and you will have fewer hassles. The manicurist will probably be able to give you some advice on how to make them stronger with less breakage naturally.
i am a certified nail tech. i have worked for the cruise line 5 years now so i should know.

Okay this is what u do.

apply creative solar oil to acrylic nail at night and repair any broken or lifted nail as soon as u see it fill them every two weeks and every three -five days apply cuticle cream.

    DONT PICK NAILS

    DONT BITE NAILS
i love them and think they look awesome but i dont get them filled i let them all fall of on there own then buy a new set cause im sooooo busy i can also change the desing. they can also damage which is a con but with everything there are pros and cons plus if you get them don you can redo them and no one can see the damage. GO GET NAILS!
2 much $,and up keep. I've never gotten them. I perfer my clean healthy nails.
i'm sorry sweetie but ultimitlaty it's your choice if you ruin your nails you could get a fungus that takes about a year or two to stop hun
NO ACRYLIC..get UV GELS..they are so much better and look 100% better..they're more natural looking. even though they are more money it's worth it
If you are going to a nail salon, find one that does the gel kind instead. The acrylic makes your nails look too fake, they bump up, the gel is smooth it looks more natural.
Find someone who does Bio Sculpture Gel nails- they don't cause damage like Acrylic does and they have about 75 different coloured gels in their range so you will never end up with nails looking just like everyone elses. Gel nails are also natural looking-if you get a good nail technician they will look just like nail polish. Acrylic are thick and look very fake, I personally think that they can look trashy if you don't get an excellent nail tech, and nail techs who can do nice acrylic nails are hard to find.

I am a Beauty Therapist so just let me know if you have any other questions
Try the UV gel, It looks natural and last for a long time. its a little more expensive but its worth it.

I'd drive in to Denton and try some of those funky little coffee shops around UNT and TWU, maybe Jupiter House on the square, that sort of place?

Also try any other funky or hip coffee shop type places in Dallas or Fort Worth proper, but try to gauge your neighborhoods. Don't go into the downtown areas, they're more likely to go for corporate design. Stick to the hip and groovy (pardon the terms, but you know what I mean) little areas.

They can be the ones with the white tips if you want all you do is ask for the white tips they will cost more then the one that are regular but i like them better the color does not chip and they just look so cute if you ask for the french manecure then you will get something totally diffrent. so just tell them white tips.
They are the ones that go on the tips of your real nail. You can get the white tip or get them however
White tips are either French or American.. they can be painted on, which chips, or you can do it my personal favorite way, get the white nail tips ,with solar nail pink on your nail bed, and the clear acrylic on the tips, a little more expensive, but worth it because they dont chip.

How do you get acrylic nails off?

how do you get these damn things off!!!How do you get acrylic nails off?
    1. Gather all of your supplies. You will need: nail clippers, nail polish remover (with acetone), Vaseline, trash bags or newspaper, and a bowl (preferably glass).

    2. Cover your kitchen table with news paper of garbage bags to prevent damage to the table

    3. Clip your acrylic nails using a pair of nail clippers to make the removal easier.

    4. Fill a bowl with nail polish remover. Put enough in so that you can soak your nails in it.

    5. Put Vaseline on your fingers (the area surrounding the nail) to protect your skin from the acetone. Don't get any on the nail though!

    6. soak nails in the bowl of nail polish remover for 15-20 minutes.

    7. Take your hands out of the bowl and try to gently peel the acrylic nails off. If the acrylic nails do not easily peel off, soak your fingers in the polish remover again for another five minutes.

    8. Wash your hands and apply lotion (acetone can be very drying). How do you get acrylic nails off?
Go back to the salon and they will remove them, or you can soak them in nail polish remover for a LOOOOOONNNNGGG time, but any way you do it, its going to be painful, not to mention that your nails will be weak and damaged for a long time.
You go to the salon where you got them done and have them do it. Or you can do it yourself by pulling them off, but you have to deal with the pain and the risk of pulling your entire natural nail off.

    Hope that helps (:
put some nail polish remover in a glass and stick your hands in there, its really gross but it takes them off. you can also go to a nail salon and they will take them off for free
I waited awhile until they grew out a bit %26amp; i bit them off, but i hear that fingernail polish remover works well too.

B.) Soak them in acetone and peel them off

Im having my nails done on saturday, which is best Acrylic or Gel?

Ive had Acrylic before and really really liked them. Just wondered what the difference is with gel really. Thanks. xxIm having my nails done on saturday, which is best Acrylic or Gel?
Gel Overlays are the best they strenghten your nails while still allowing them to breath. They are much better then acrylic as they do less damage to your nails. I get mine done twice a month and now no longer have tips just gel on my own nails which adds strength.Im having my nails done on saturday, which is best Acrylic or Gel?
    gel totally. it is in!!!!!!
Please, Please don't have fake nails!!

they just look so fake and natural is always much better.

Grow your own nails and you'll see how gorgeous they look.
I've had the gels before and they are pretty good.
In my experience the gel is a little better to my original nails. When I have had acrylic, they seam to eat through my natural nails and it takes weeks to recovr. Instead of getting the fake ones, have you tried Sally Hansen Maximum growth? The light pink one makes my nails super long and strong in a matter of days, you can almost watch them grow!
gel u cant bite them off
Acrylic is the strongest type of nails you can get the only thing is if the nails start to lift or come off the acrylic could take the natural nail off as well. Gel is a lot more flexible than arcylic, it's strong but not as strong as the acrylic, the difference with gel is that when it lifts or come off, it's only the gel that comes off and not the natural nails and it doesn't damage the nails as much as acrylic can do.
    Fibreglass nails are great,

It's a little mesh that they put over natural nail to create a tip, leaving nail free to breathe!
I didn't know the answer to this one but am grateful for the question.

I can't seem to grow my nails and have thought of getting them done.

I know what to go for now, thanks for the info.
I really like the gel nails because they last longer than acrylic and they make your nails look more natural.
Gel nails are the best because they last longer and they look better after you have them for a week or so.
    gel apparently
Acrylics killed my nails. It's taken 3 months and a lot of nail strengthener to get them back to how they used to be and good enough to wear longer and paint them! I'm going to try gel if I ever have them done again, even though it's more expensive.
gel for sure.it looks more natural.
Gel. it does less damage to your natural nail than acrylic.
go for the gel. try something new.

You can nail glue it down, but it will look bad.

What sort of naail poish remover do you use on acrylic nails?

Make sure you use non-acetone nail polish remover, otherwise you will take the acrylic off. If you are unsure, you can always ring your salon or the person who applied them and ask them - better that than ruining your nails! What sort of naail poish remover do you use on acrylic nails?
They say to use acetone free nail polish remover, but this won't remove the acryllic unless you soak your nails in it.

I wanted to remove my acryllic nails and apply a new set, the lady at the nail salon had me soak my hands in a bowl of acetone nail polish remover and it took 35 minutes before they were 85 disinerated. The rest they filed off. What sort of naail poish remover do you use on acrylic nails?
non acetone. While you can use acetone and not really notice much difference, you increase the chances of having problems with the nails lifting off of your nail plate.
-if u just want to change the polish use acetone FREE

-if u want to take your acrylic nails off use 100% acetone
if just removing nail polish it must be acetone free (the acetone will eat at the acrylic). If it 's to remove the acrylic nails then soak them in straight acetone (bought at building supply or hardware stores) and they will desolve.

I am only 15 and have just had my acrylic nails done. will that be bad for my nails as i am quite young?

yes its bad for your nails, but its only to get every now and again it helps some peoples nails grow and others not when i get my done my nail are weak after and if you notice the people who do your nails don't wear them either if you want your nails to grow try the nail hardener stuff and drink plenty of milk.I am only 15 and have just had my acrylic nails done. will that be bad for my nails as i am quite young?
It's not much to worry about, in my opinion.

When you remove them, the nail underneath will look very scary and damaged -- because it is. But, it does grow out.

I'm told that it's possible to have damage to the nail bed from long term use of acrylics, mostly due to poor fit of the nail and some of the techniques used. It's supposedly better the more of the process that is done by hand, rather than anything mechanized.

Whether or not this is true, I've gotten acrylics off and on for a few years, and have not noticed any permanent issues.I am only 15 and have just had my acrylic nails done. will that be bad for my nails as i am quite young?
short term, if you remove them your nails are going to be pretty ate up regardless of how old you are. they have make the surface of the nail rough to get the acrylic to stick to it, so when you remove the acrylic nails you'll have to buff your nails relatively smooth, and they'll be weak until the undamaged nail grows out. but i don't think getting acrylics harms your nails permanently.
They just go on top of your real nails right? Shouldn't be any issues.

Check out the link for some tips/common sense on being safe.
They should be fine, as long as u dont keep doin it because otherwise your nails will go yellow and weak as they wont be seein sunlight.
    Yes.

You've effed up your nails now.

And once you start it's hard to stop.

    The cost of acrylic nails?

I'm wanting to get some acrylic nails done to help me grow my own nails [so to get out the habit] and for my party.

How much does it roughly cost and do u have to just have the basic false looking nails or can u have them painted and does that cost more ?

Thanks for all your help in advance. The cost of acrylic nails?
Typically around 25 to 30 (and then 15 to fill if you want to maintain them)... That is what is usually costs me to get a french tip (the white on the ends)...

I think getting them painted is included in the cost, but if not it will only be 2 or 3 dollars more..The cost of acrylic nails?
It all depends on the area you live.

Ive been getting mine done for about a year now and I love them.

it normally costs me between 28-35 dollars.

It depends on what I get done to them though.

The more colors and difficulty of the design, the more it will cost.

Maybe find some places around your area and ask how much they charge.

Can i mix acrylic paint with emulsion paint?

Yes, as long as they are both water-based products (i.e can be thinned with water), there is no reason why it shouldn't mix together very successfully as modern emulsion paint such as Vinyl Matt, Vinyl Silk and Soft Sheen are all water-based acrylic copolymers anyway. This is because acrylic is added to the paint as a binder and to make it more waterproof. What actual finish you end up with (i.e how shiny it is) will depend largely on what finish the emulsion and acrylic paints are to start with and the quantities involved.

Just to be on the safe side, and to make sure it is going to look OK, I would mix a small quantity to start with as a sort of tester. If it turns out to your liking .... then go for it !!! You can always paint over it again if you don't like it.

Another factor to bear in mind though is where you are going to use this paint, inside or outside? And on what surface?

Nearly all paint is fine indoors but for outside use you should be using an Exterior quality paint as it has better colour durability to the sun and elements.

I hope this has helped. If you need any more advice on paint problems let me know. Can i mix acrylic paint with emulsion paint?
No.Can i mix acrylic paint with emulsion paint?
    yes....
That depends on if the emulsion paint is oil based or acrylic based. Certain paints do not respond well with others. Such as Pool paints. If you used a pool paint the year before, you MUST use the same brand pool paint as you did the time before. otherwise the chemicals will react badly and cause blistering and peeling. Your best bet is to take a can of each paint you are wanting to mix into a Sherwin Williams, or another like paint store who know a lot about which paints you are using. Acrylic can only be used with Acrylic. Oil with Oil, etc.

Can I mix acrylic paints with regular emulsion? ?

Hi, I want to save money on paint, so I was thinking of mixing blue acrylic with white emulsion to make light blue. Is it a good idea? I thought of trying it out first somewhere, but wanted to know if anyone out there had done it themselves or knew. Thanks Can I mix acrylic paints with regular emulsion? ?
    I agree.

It will be fine to mix, just make sure you mix well.

Also if really thick add some water...or else you will have bad coverage. Be careful not to add too much , just so it can roll smoothly. More often then not, you will need 2 coats and you don't want to run out !!

Some extra advice....Add the blue to white, a small amount at a time.

Have fun.Can I mix acrylic paints with regular emulsion? ?
it will not be a problem ..have done it many times

Ladies: Do you prefer wearing natural nails or acrylic nails?

I like my natural nails. Plus they're really thin so having acrylics are useless to me.

How about you?Ladies: Do you prefer wearing natural nails or acrylic nails?
Natural nails, I can't stand to have anything on them for more then a few minutes-including nail polish.Ladies: Do you prefer wearing natural nails or acrylic nails?

    natural nails.
I prefer my real nails too ;]

I can't afford to keep up acrylics every week!

I like my natural nails better.

Shall i get acrylic nails for done for over xmas?

    YES :)

im dieing to get mine dont but my mom wont let me can u believe that im 16 !! an she wont let meee :/ wow i feel bad for myself lol but you should definitely get it done they look really pretty.Shall i get acrylic nails for done for over xmas?
    If you want too.

But don't get them done too long, i think it looks awful if they are too long!!Shall i get acrylic nails for done for over xmas?
i got them done and its the christmas color
no, they ruin your real nails, it takes about a year for your nails to grow out. grow out your real nails and get them manicured.
NO! if you are just planing to have them over xmas, its not worth it! when you get them off your nails are really gross. they peel and break really easiler and youll have indents on your nail where the acrylic started, and it will take a year for your nail to be healthy again!!

only get acrylics IF you plan to get them filled each month. otherwise, its not worth it, your nails will look like ****. and it hurts to get them off too.

if you REALLY want fake nails, go to target and get the glue on nails. those dont ruin your nails and they will last for about a week (just enough time over xmas!)

otherwise just get a regular manicure!!
no no no! I thought the same thing two years ago and got my nails done. They are still trying to grow out where the acrylic tore my natural nail off. I really think fake nails are more harm then good and they cost a lot more than nail polish.

I use Opi Nail Envy- it is a nail strengthener and helps your nails grow faster. It's $15 and you can find it on line if you don't have a Tradesecrets store near you.
I used to get acyrlics all the time....then the rio uv nail kit came out,so i grabbed a bargin in argos £30 and i do my own all the time,it comes with a uv light and all the products and a dvd to tell you how to do all sorts of nails, they look more natural and it saves me alot of money.
    i did :)
as long as you plan for keeping them just for over xmas coz they dont stay on for long and arent cheap tp maintain! however they do look nice. my friend has them but she is at the shop getting them re-done every other day x
    Yes they are really sexy
Nah, fake nails are too common.
    Most guys don't like them.

Just to let you know. Anything fake is a turn off.

    How to romove Acrylic Nails...?

I want to remove my Acrylic nails. Instead of removing them in a salon with acetone, I plan to let them grow out. Because I don't like my nails being so weak. Has anyone experience with that? How do I file them (Acryl is hard to file)? When I wear nailpolish, most people won't notice?!How to romove Acrylic Nails...?
If they are peeling a bit take a very slim card like a subway card and slip it in the tiny space and it lifts it off without hurting your nail.

Another thing you can do is file down as much as you can while it's growing out. You can file it, it's not that hard. How to romove Acrylic Nails...?
The only way to not rip layers of your nails off is to soak them in acetone. Sorry. It really is the only way. Just be patient %26amp; you can get them off w/ acetone. There are nail strengthens you can purchase too that help to rebuild your nails. One is by nailtek. IT works really well. I used it when I took my acrylics off %26amp; it make a big difference.
why did you get them? are you stupid?
i dont like to let them soak but its b/c im impatient. lol

no matter what your nails will be weak from having them on though. when you do get them off try to use nail hardener and keep them trimed down so they wont break off.

    Hope i helped some!

    good luck!
Use running warm water when removing its the easiest way
I bought ';Polish Off'; artificial nail remover at Walmart (found in the makeup isle) for 2 or 4 dollars. It comes in a white container with a pink and purple label. I couldn't find a picture of it, but its in a round container and says ';Brush Style'; on the lid. It actually does work. I tried to do the same thing as you but it ended up looking weird when they grew out. I think that it would be too hard to file them and too much of a hassle.

How to make acrylic piece into car shaped body? 3D?

blow molding? How to make acrylic piece into car shaped body? 3D?
    Options are:

    1.Blow moulding into a mould.

    2. Vacuum forming. Cut a shape of the car out of any suitable material, wood would be Ok. place in the bottom of a suitable Vac mould. Draw sheet down onto it.

    160 to 180 'C should be Ok.

If sheet is opaque then any moulding marks will be on back surface

    See this for more details:

http://www.lucitesolutions.com/solution.鈥?/a>How to make acrylic piece into car shaped body? 3D?
Acrylic sheet softens nicely in the oven at about 240F, so you handle with it with smooth cotton gloves to move it without marking.

A good thing is that if you blow a molding run, you just reheat the sheet and it flattens back out.

For total reliability, you need an inside and outside mold with the right space between them, so you can lay the sheet down on the outside mold and push the inside mold into place. Plaster mold heated in the oven to the same temp keeps the plastic from cooling off too quickly.

One way to make this work is to sculpt the inside mold to somewhat smaller than your car, then dip it in wax to make a layer as thick as the plastic. Carve the wax with car details then mold plaster over the wax and heat to melt the wax out, leaving a space between the inner and outer.

A bit more complicated but easier to conceptualize the car body is to sculpt the body in soft plasticine clay and make a plaster mold from that. Then pour melted wax in the plaster and slosh it around to coat the inside in a mostly even layer. Pour plaster inside the wax coating and after hard heat to melt the wax and release the inner mold.

This answer assumes you know or can find out how to work with plaster of paris including relief angles and avoiding undercuts and know how long to wait for the plaster to be strong.

Does acrylic paint come of of denim?

my friends and i had a little 'adventure' yesterday and ended up with handprints all over our pants and i dont want them to go away in the wash.Does acrylic paint come of of denim?
My paint pants I use for work are permanently splashed and printed in acrylics and I throw them through the wash all the time. I'm a mural artist. You may loose some- depends on how thick etc,but its pretty permanent. Next time try adding in Textile Medium- then its correct to use on fabric. If it washes out some you can mix up more and print them again or just touch them up with a little brush and paint. Turn them inside out to wash-it will help too.

PS another fun thing is use stickers (letters etc) on jeans and then spray them with bleach (be safe-put down old towells underneath-go outside), then rise them after about 5 mintutes and peel and scratch off stickers- they will stay dark and of course it will never come out. Put them throught e washer on a small separate load to make sure all the bleach is out after you rinse them---Does acrylic paint come of of denim?
Heat sets acrylic so if you want to keep it, let the paint dry completly first, and dry on high in the dryer. This should keep in there, and you should be able to wash it without losing the paint If you wanted to get it out, do the converse, wash/soak in cold water (not icy, that will make it stiff from the cold, just not hot.)
no... but handprints on jeans seems like a good idea, im gonna make millions!!
Wash in cold and don't use a full amount of wash soap. It will eventually several washes begin to peel off if not fully soaked into the pant . If you have lift you can recoat with the acrylic but make the paint watery so it will soak into the cloth. I have done several projects this way and have had good results
To keep the paint ON the denim, you should heat set it by either ironing it or throwing it in the dryer for awhile. The heat will help bond the paint into the fabric. To insure it lasts even longer, I would handwash the jeans rather than machine wash.
yes, soaking them works. but it's still a lot of work ripping the paint.

how can i remove the nails without using acetone?

what steps do the professionals use to take them off?

and how long do each of these take?Fake acrylic nails question?
i get acrylics ALL the time.

and every other week they take mine off, and they never used acetone on me.

they just get something sharp like another tip of a nail and dig under it.

or get clippers (sharp ones) and stick it under a little bit of the side of you nail and clip it then bite of the rest.

    i hope this helpssss!

    ((:

    goodluckkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.

    Fake acrylic nails question?
I lift the nails off. I take something thin, I use a nail tip, the ones we use when we tip your finger nails. I then slip it under the acrylic nail and work it towards the end of the finger. If the nail is secure, I use vitamin E oil to help loosen it from the nail. You can use baby oil or any other oil to help. the quicker you slip the tip under the acrylic, the less potential pain.

you can either wait for them to fall of or cut them down but there is no other way you have to use acetone it takes me like the entire day to get them off next time think before you get them put on the only reason i ever took mine off is because i had to have surgery and you cant have them
I had them for prom and hated them, 'cus im not very girly, but you can just tear them off. It doesn't hurt if you do it slowly and with a file or something to push on the nail with.
Just have them taken off professionally. You'll save yourself a lot of trouble and you won't ruin your nails. It's a little pricey but it saves you time and effort.
Your normally supposed too use acetone in order too remove acrylic nails. However, you can use a NON-acetone fingernail polish and soak your nails in it for about 10 minutes.
Proffesionals use acetone to take them off.

You can soak them in nail polish remover for like 20 minutes.
Using basic physics. Crack the nail in half by bitting it, putting the nail vertically in your mouth. Then each half should be easy to take off.

Acetone and special tools, It takes about 20 mins

It's worth it because they do a good job

wut i usually do is get one those big nail clippers and start clippin them off and pry the nail off

Are acrylic nails bad for your natural nails?

When applying the acrilic nails they usually file off a great deal of your real nail making it super thin but easier for the acrylic to stick. Because of this, when you get them taken off your nails will be very very thin. Given time they will grow out and the thin will fall off and you will have your regular nail. I have never experienced any long term damage by getting acrylic nails, but if you don't plan to keep them - they will be thin and brittle for awhile after you get rid of them.

If your nails are long and you are just getting acrylic overlay to keep your nails from breaking, they don't file as much off as the do when you get a ';full set'; but it still probably isn't very good for your nails, at least not in the short term anyway. Are acrylic nails bad for your natural nails?
yes its definitely bad. it sticks on your nails and it will never come off unless you go back to the same shop and ask them to remove it. but if they did a bad job, and it seems to fall off, it might chip your natural nails off a bit too. a lot of my friends had it,...and all of them swore that they will never ever get it done again. Are acrylic nails bad for your natural nails?
acrylic nails are just that, nail enchancements. just like haircolor is an enhancement for your hair.
they do make your natural nails very soft. I guess you could say yes, they're sorta bad.
yea if u start u have to keep doing it coz if u stop then ur real nails look awful.
Yes they are they make your real nails thin. If you keep going back to get a fil the thinner they get. Also if you let the acrylic nail grow out without getting a fill as soon as you need it it can develop fungus underneath which is not good. Acrylic nails are beautiful but they really are bad for your real nails.
Yes... But it depends on how long you have them on for. They're bad for you because your nails can not breath, under the acrylic, but if you have them on for like a wedding or something, do NOT, I repeat DO NOT peel them off. It rips the top layer (layers) of your nail off. So to get them off just go to the salon and pay the $10 to get them taken off. you'll just soak your nails in acitone =, and they'll just basically melt off.
    Yes. Try gel nails...they're healthier.
Because of the chemicals used, I would not put them on my nails. The easiest way to grow nails that are nice is to trim them and round them...

Acrylic nails vs. Solar nails-which one is better? Are there any other kind?

Oh, I just did this a month ago for my wedding. I've always had ok nails, but decided to try it out especially for my photos. I was told to get solar gels--basically for like a week I would ask any girl that I saw with fake nails which kind she had and what she thought...thus resulting in my decision to get gels. But, when I went to the nail salon they had two options 1) acrylic 2) gels. The acrylic was about $28 and the gels were $40. I got the gels becuase I was told that they were better 1) they look better 2) do not have to fill them as often (1-2 weeks for acrylic and 2-3 weeks for gel).

Oh, so I go tanning and girl there also has fake nails. She said that she has solar gel. I said I did too. Oh, no I didn't. So now I find out there is 1) acrylic 2) acrylic gel 3) solar gel. Solar gels cost like $50-60/set. And how do you know if you have solar gels vs. the other two??? Acrylics and acrylic gels will glow in the tanning bed, and this is what I had. I should have gotten the solar gels...and I'd like to add that they looked really good on tanning sales girl.

But in general I would NOT get fake nails EVER!!! My fingers hurt SO-BAD when I had them put on for the first time. My nails were grinded down so that the compound would adhere to my nail bed...oh, the pain. I had to pack that night and I had to take a pain-killer for MY NAILS! And crap gets stuck between the acrylic and my real nail...gross! And then when a couple start to ';pop'; off...it was time to get these nails off of me! The last thing I wanted to do was go back and pay somone to take them off, so I went to the beauty store and the girls there had also ironically removed their nails a month or so ago. They recommended that I just buy a bottle of pure acetone and soak my nails (while using the wooden cuticle stick to help push them off). They said it would take 30-45min.

I buy the acetone and soak my nails...at least an hour. Towards the end they start to peel off alittle so I end up tearing them off my nails. Of course natural nails flakes off too. My nails are so- thin. I keep applying coats of clear polish to help, but they are thin.

I would never recommend getting fake nails. (But if you do pay the extra $ for the SOLAR GELS---do not let the salon trick you into acrylic gels as being solar gels). If I had to do it over again I would have gotten a very nice manicure with my natural nails! Now, I just have stubby, short, thin nails that bend backwards if I put too much pressure on them.Acrylic nails vs. Solar nails-which one is better? Are there any other kind?
Gel nails are really nice. They are strong and durable, and not as much damage on your nails.Acrylic nails vs. Solar nails-which one is better? Are there any other kind?
    natural nails
there are silk nails..I prefer natural nails..the others soften your nails and they break easily if taken off..it has been 3 years since I took mine off and they are just now getting strong..I will never do it again..

    Acrylic paint mixed with water?

I'm making a Harry Potter Style wand. I wanted to know if I diluted some acrylic paint with water, could I use this as a cheap stained-look? Then I'll cover it with polyurethane. I don't have any money to buy real stain, so I was wondering if this would work.Acrylic paint mixed with water?
It will give it a light white washed look..just like an opaque stain...good idea.Acrylic paint mixed with water?
If you're doing it on wood it will work fine. Just be sure to let it dry completely before sealing it.

the pink and whites are called solar.

they're more expensive, but there way better.

i get them everytime and they last way longer and look better.

if you tan they won't turn orange. and when your realy nail grows out you can't see it under the white tip like you cal with regular acrylics.
Because they have to use two different colors of acrylic and not everyone knows how to do it. Yes you had regular, you'd know if you had pink and white.

    Acrylic paint on your skin?

I painted my arms legs hands and my face using acrylic paint is that bad... my finger tips are itching really bad?!Acrylic paint on your skin?
Soccer, I have taken college art classes for 30 years now, and from the beginning, the information about acrylic paint has left me wondering what the full story is. Acrylic paint tubes have a listing from the ASTM, which decides what's toxic for artists, say they are non-toxic. Yet, anything you read about the pigments, which are what create the color in any paint, say that many are indeed toxic. My professors have always said acrylics are not made for application to skin.

Even wearing gloves, artists using acrylics wind up with paint on themselves. I have never heard of anyone itching. So that suggests to me that you may be allergic, or at least sensitive to the paint. If anything more than itching starts, see a doctor. We all hope that we are safe. I suppose when enough people who use acrylics start getting old, if we all have some similar cancer or other disease, we'll know what it was. Or maybe we'll be fine, I hope!

When you want to do body painting again, there are body paints available from many sources, so use that.Acrylic paint on your skin?
Soccer, there are rubber gloves. The latex is a rubber glove with a product added they don't even need to add. Few people have a problem with rubber gloves. If you do, you can also buy cheap white cotton gloves.

it's drying out your skin. wash it off with a soap or facial scrub that is gritty and put lotion on. baby oil might even work to help get the paint off.
Yeah, it's bad. You covered up WAY too much of your skin, for one thing. Skin needs to breathe, and acrylic in its dried state is quite impervious.

And in its wet state, toxins could have entered your body through your pores. And you could definitely have a latex allergy, as mentioned above.

To top it all off, it was probably the devil to remove, right? You're probably still wearing a lot of it. And the best substance to remove dried acrylic is REALLY toxic, I mean super-toxic, and you definitely don't want to rub that all over your body at this point.

Take a Benadryl and use some hydrocortisone cream, see if the itching stops. If it gets worse, you'll need to go to the emergency room for some more serious meds.
Next time have a plan before you paint. What do you do to clean up a paint spill after it is dry???
You may be allergic to something in the point, so you should probably wash off the paint and think twice before painting yourself again.
If your fingertips are itching, you may have an allergy to latex, which means you should avoid excessive skin contact with acrylic paints. If you have any difficulty breathing or swallowing, definitely dial 911.
Acrylic paint is not too dangerous. But you probably went over board a little. Just get an Antihistamine from the Drug Store.

Or wash well, and rub some Lavender Oil on.
    Hi,

You don't specify what kind of acrylic paint.

Contact the manufacturer or check their site if they have one.

If you still have the can/pot/tube, take it to a doctor or hospital.

Health issues are to be solved by professionals.

    Kind regards,
