Easel, Check. Paint and brushes, Check. Canvass, Check.
I am going to start off creating a sunsetty background and put a silhouette on to finish. How quick does the paint dry? Can i add to it tomorrow? does anyone have tips for me?
Any hints appreciated!First acrylic painting...tips?
Acrylic will dry to the tacky touch very quikly compared to oils. Usually, you can add to it without fear of run together or smears within the hour, faster if you use a drying lamp or hairdryer. It really depends how thick your application is. You'll definitely be able to add to it tomorrow.
As for hints or tips, I like to use an acrylic base or underpainting and use oils for finishing the painting, or for highlights near the end where I might want stiffer textures and richer tones. Additionally, I sometimes use melted wax to 'seal off' an area of painting that I don't want to disturb. An old fondue pot will keep wax melted and readily available.First acrylic painting...tips?
I would suggest you just get down to painting and not get bogged down or overwhelmed with too many tips. That first painting, no matter how it turns out will teach you alot about the medium you are using. I started with acrylics but now only use oils and i learned to use both with library books. My art can be checked out at hellosanantonio.com under artist name ''Guerro'' in the local artist section. Have fun.
acrylic can be very messy
u can mix it with water to give it a runny texture
takes a quite long to dry
mixe very good with each other
Acrylics dry pretty fast, so you can add to it whenever.
