...sometimes a wire is used on the lingual (tongue) surface for additional strength to the teeth involved in the splinting...and composite material is used (after the etchant and bonding material) instead of the acrylic so it stays on longer. Can anybody tell me step by step procedure for creating acrylic splint for mobile teeth?
Of course..i know exactly what you are asking..1st the area is etched with a gel that roughens up the tooth surface so the filling(acrylic splint) will take hold. Then the etching gel is rinsed away and dried. A primer two step is applied and air dried so the acrylic splint will adhere to the teeth. I am guessing the dentist will either use a tube of acrylic filling material(generally used to fabricate tooth colored tempory crowns) and place the material to give strength to the mobile teeth. I material is cured wit ha light so it hardens and then shaped with a bur(drill bit) to reduce the bulkiness of the filling. That really is all there is to it..you may not even have to be numbed(given anesthetci) but that is up to the dentist themself.

Take care and happy splinting.
